How To Avoid GMO Foods

Avoid the big four, which has become five now: The highly genetically engineered crops are soy, corn, canola and cottonseed. Add sugar beets, which are now becoming GMO.

Most blended oils in North America contain canola and cottonseed oils. Use extra virgin olive oil instead. Avoid all soy products and oils as well. The healthy alternative is usually not so healthy after all, since most soy is GMO unless it is specifically labeled non-GMO.

Most corn is GMO. Items like corn flakes and corn chips are from GM corn. Corn based products, corn starch, corn oil, corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup appear on the ingredients labels of many processed foods. Corn in various forms is prevalent in the vast fast food supply that dominates our culture.

GMO corn is fed to cattle and other livestock. If you eat beef, pork or fowl, you are probably a second-hand consumer of GM corn. So dig a little deeper and buy grass or alfalfa fed or free range livestock meats only.

Sugar beets are added to the big four to make it five. Now more and more sugar beets are GMO. Sugar from sugar beets is less expensive than cane sugar for refined sugar; therefore, it is popular with food processing groups. So if you haven’t stopped using sugar or products with refined sugar, you might want to reconsider now.

A handy guide for consumers are PLU codes that are labeled or stamped onto fruits and vegetables. PLU stands for Price Look Up. The PLU codes are for input into electronic cash registers to determine prices for bulk items, such as apples and cabbage. The codes identify exactly what the item is with its current pricing, while giving the consumer a handy tag for identifying GMO produce.

Each PLU code has five digits. If the first digit is a 9, the item is organic. If it is an 8, it is GMO! Conventionally grown produce has a 0 for the first digit, but usually the 0 is dropped. So most conventionally grown produce will actually have only 4 digits on the PLU tag if you don’t see a 0 at the beginning. The 8 gives you the worst of two worlds, GMO and heavy chemical spraying!

Those are your three main categories. PLU codes do not usually appear on packaged produce or items such as string beans that are too small to label or stamp.

Obviously, buying organic and from local farmers is ideal. Forget convenience. Buy bulk and eschew packaged foods. So what if you have to soak legumes the night before cooking them. If you buy locally, through a local health food store or at a farmers’ market, you can determine by direct communication how the crops were raised.

Editorial Summary:

Immediately after the events of 9-11-’01 the bumper stickers could be seen everywhere — “Freedom Isn’t Free!”.  But the vast majority of Americans don’t truly understand how vast of an understatement this really is.  Which was the focus of this episode, with The Griz asking listeners, “What does it mean?”.

Does it mean being informed on the issues?
Does it mean voting?
Does it mean “paying your fair share”?
Does it mean being “politically active”?

The majority of mainsteam talk show hosts would tell you that it means all of these things.  But, in the real-world opinion of The Griz, this isn’t the case, although he does agree with part of the first question — being informed.  And the overwhelming majority of Americans aren’t.

Many people, when seeing a “Freedom Isn’t Free” bumper sticker, think of the duty and sacrifice of the American soldier, and they’d be correct to do so.  But this is where most Americans fall short as well.

A thorough study of American history, starting with the reasons people came to this land in the first place, will begin to shed some much needed light onto the actual duties that every American is honor-bound to uphold.

America hasn’t changed, ladies and gentlemen.  We have.

America hasn’t changed, because the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution for the United States, and the Bill of Rights haven’t changed.  They haven’t changed because no law can change them.  No, we have changed!  We have sold our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor through our own ignorance and laziness.

Some might say that they aren’t lazy because they stay informed on the issues, study the nominees and candidates in a political race, and make informed choices based on solid information.  But, on what so-called “important issues” are these people staying informed?  And the answer is simple:  They are informed on whatever issues are considered “important” during an election cycle, and not usually anything more substantive.

No doubt these Sunshine Patriots are quite knowledgeable on “topics du jour”, such as gun control, abortion, civil rights, energy, etc..  But this is precisely the problem, because when someone who understands the real issues asks them about their Straw Man, or if they hold the Allodial Title to their house/property, the Sunshine Patriots blink and stare blankly, not understanding the terminology.

Politics is a game, and nothing more.  Voting* is an illusion of making a difference, nothing more.  They are the tools of the global elite, used to control their livestock (you, your neighbors, your friends, your children and your grandchildren), to distract the livestock, and to make you obey, conform and comply.  Which is precisely what most “politically active” Americans (people all over the world, in fact) do.  You comply with “the game”, all the while believing it’s “the only way” to “make a difference”.  When in fact, the globalist agenda moves onward, regardless of what “party” or “candidate” gets “elected”.  It is all a part of the Hegelian Dialectic.

In keeping with the stated purpose of Griztalk Radio, this episode opened by stressing the need to return to what we once were, as Americans, by re-learning and re-implementing such lost arts as Homesteading.

The Griz compared a knowledgeable gardner removing rot and disease from a garden in order to make it productive, to the rot and disease that has been festering in our American government for many decades, and our own lack of action in removing it, so that our country may flourish once again.  Our present state of affairs is nobody’s fault but our own, only we can reverse it, and it is time to do so.

1.)  Hugh Traulsen – Hugh “The Heartbeat of America” Traulsen was our first caller, making note that while rediscovering lost skills, arts, and practices is an important undertaking, we should not forget to use modern technologies as well, in the acheivement of our goal of Restoration.  A practice that we at Griztalk Radio obviously agree with and encourage, so long as we understand the government ties associated with it, and the subsequent risks.

2.)  The Voice of the Misinformed – This caller, who came in about a half-hour into the show, was obviously quite animated and frustrated over the Trayvon Martin incident in Florida, as well as American involvement in foreign wars, “racial profiling”, and a thousand other issues.  Which is why Co-Host Joe Nizzari interjected abruptly, in an attempt to correct the man’s assumptions and misinformation, as well as trying to calm the man down, and focus on one subject.

While the caller tended to ramble somewhat incoherently when he spoke, Mr. Nizzari and The Griz addressed his concerns specifically, with Joe attempting to clarify the Castle Doctrine, the responsibilities associated with firearms ownership, and to dispel some of the caller’s numerous misconceptions about the world around him.

This caller, in spite of being disconnected from the show over his inane babbeling, called back again and was put back on the air, only to return to a string of incoherent rantings, which got him kicked off the air for the last time.

The entire exchange is in the first hour, beginning around the half-hour mark.  Listen and decide the outcome for yourself.
